This collection belongs to Jan Michalak whose family (grandfather Jożef, grandmother Genowefa and children Bronisław and Genia) were deported to Siberia. Genia died at 10 years in Siberia. Jożef joined the Polish Army in Kermine and was evacuated with his wife and son to Iran. Jożef joined Ander's 2nd army while Genowefa and Bronisław were sent to Masindi in Africa. Later Bronisław returned to North Africa and also enlisted in Ander's 2nd army. Their story is told in the Memorial written by Janusz the son of Bronisław which is attached as a PDF in this collection.
