Julian Chruszczewski, Sybirak and Polish Navy
Julian Chruszczewski was born in Krzemieniec, Wołyn, 24th August 1924. He was arrested by the NKVD and deported to Siberia on 10th February 1940. He escaped with Anders Army via Tashkent to Persia. He joined the Polish Navy in 1942, arriving in the UK via the Middle East and South Africa. He served on ORP Garland, ORP Piorun and ORP Conrad. He served in the Naval Wing of the PRC, being discharged in 1947. Julian anglicized his name to "Cordell" after the war, remaining in the UK. He died 17 July 2010.
