Description:
The Motor Gun Boat S-2 ("S" standing for ścigacz meaning pursuer/destroyer) were commissioned to the Polish Navy from 19 July 1940 - 5 July 1944. Unofficially it was named "Wilczur" (meaning Wolfhound). The S-2 engaged 6 German E-boats on the night of June 22nd 1944 which were about to attack a British Convoy in the Dover Straights. The Skipper, Lt. E. Wcislicki (nicknamed “Whisky”, later to become Captain Westlake RN), was awarded the DSC and the Polish Virtuti Militari.
