Katarzyna and Bronislaw Wach owned a large farm 2 hours north of Lwow in a small village called Rulikowka. The picture above shows a typical farmhouse near Lwow similar to the one they would have lived in. The small village of Rulikowka is now located in the Ukraine as Russia permanently appropriated the land [and all the property] they stole from Poland after World War 2. After deporting the Poles that were living in the properties to Siberia, the Russians then moved in and stole their properties and began living in them. All the deportations took place in the middle of the night. The Russians arrived at their door, woke them up and gave them about an hour to pack up all their possessions. Katarzyna and Bronislaw Wach and their two young children, Ryszard and Stanislaw Wach were deported by the Russians to Siberia in February 1940 during the first round of deportations. Stanislaw was 7 years old and Ryszard was 1 and a half years old.
