"Gimnazjum" in Civilian Camp #2, in Teheran. At the beginning we were in a garage, you had to bring bricks to sit on, the only equipment was a small blackboard. Needless to say, we did not have any books. Later we were moved to a building where we were crowded like sardines. The only good thing about all this was that there were 30 students in my class (3rd grade) and only 5 boys so we were very "popular". In 1943 four of us went to the army and there were many broken hearts. But the old ties were strong and after the war, when we met again in England, some of my friends married our schoolmates from Tehran. Romuald Lipinski
