Berling’s Army identity card for Stefan Piszczuk
Stefan Piszczuk was deported and conscripted into the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Division ("Berling's Army"). He was selected for officer training which he did not complete due to illness. Following his recovery he was sent straight into action. His rank was the equivalent of a Lance Corporal. This is his first Russian Identity Card, Service No 778

Stefan Piszczuk was deported and conscripted into the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Division ("Berling's Army"). He was wounded in the Battle of Lenino 12 October 1943. He was listed as missing presumed dead (though he survived). This is a copy of the official entry from that list, found in the Polish Archives
