Grave of Zieniewicz Zdzislaw
Original drawing by Eleonora Zieniewicz, age 31, deported with her six year old son Zdzislaw (Zdzisio), from the Poddebowe Forest Ranger's Lodge (near Czuczewicze, Pow. Luniniec, Woj. Polesie) to the Vologda Oblast of the USSR. On Mar. 25, 1940 her husband Wlodzimierz, a forest ranger, disappeared in Russia - never to be seen again. This drawing is the only remainder of their son, left behind in a Soviet cemetery. He died of cold and starvation, only a few months after being deported.
