part I
Name: | Władysława Kalinowska |
Description: | February 10th 1940. At midnight they came and took father away, and at 2 a.m. they came back and took us. We were not allowed to take anything with us. Mother was very upset, we kids were all crying and did not know what to do. They just kept yelling that we were not allowed to take anything. Mother even asked if she could go and take the dog off the leash, because we had a dog, and they would not let her. They said we were not allowed to go anywhere or to take anything, but Mother insisted that we dress in layer, and we did take the bedding. There was a very serious frost that year, when they took us on Feb 10th. I still remember how upset Mother was, she did not know what to bring. With three small children, and where is the husband ? So they took us to the estate, and from the estate to the Pinsk train station. They had brought all the settlers from Polesie there. And they took us to the USSR, to Archangelsk. |
