In the forest of Katyn, near Smolensk, numerous mass graves were discovered, in which thousands of bodies of Polish officers were. It involves captured Polish officers who had been deported by the Soviets in the spring of 1940 here, tied up, killed by cervical shot and buried in 9 to 12 rows above each other.
