Description:

On the 30th August 1939, on the eve of WW2, 3 Polish destroyers ORP Blyskawica, Grom and Burza were ordered to escape the Baltic and get to the UK. They arrived in Leith, Scotland and shortly after were sent to Plymouth where they became operational under the overall command of RN. In September 1939 the First Sea Lord, Winston Churchill paid a visit to Devonport to inspect the crew of the Polish destroyers in order to raise morale - here seen inspecting the crew of ORP Burza at that time under the command of Nahorski.
