Cemetery: Russia, Miednoje

Polish military cemetery in Miednoje, Russia, built in 1999-2000 on the initiative of the Council for Protection of Memory of Struggle and Martyrdom. At the cemetery, with a total area of ​​1.7 ha, are located 25 mass graves of more than 6,300 prisoners from the special camp in Ostashkov who were murdered in 1940 by the NKVD in the basement of a Circuit Board of the NKVD in Kalinin (now Tver). In 2005-2006, “The Graveyard Book” of the Miednoje Cemetery was published in 2 Volumes by the Council for Protection of Memory of Struggle and Martyrdom in Poland, listing the victims of the Katyn massacre buried there, along with short biographies (totalling 6288 names).
