Attending Communion, May 1932. Roman told his children that his expression was the result of wearing pants (made from a sister's skirt) that were much too tight due to a lack of communication with his mother. On the previous day, he had injured himself in the groin, jumping fences with friends. |

What was once Roman's parents' home in the town of Stryj, Galicia, photo taken in the 1960s. Only one house, but it has been occupied variously by (so far) five countries: Austro-Hungary, Poland, Germany, the Soviet Union and the Ukraine. |
