This is first picture we have of my father Mark Gigiera. It was taken in 1944, probably in Scotland where he had been sent to, to recover from serious war injuries. Mark was 21.

Attending Communion, May 1932. Roman told his children that his expression was the result of wearing pants (made from a sister's skirt) that were much too tight due to a lack of communication with his mother. On the previous day, he had injured himself in the groin, jumping fences with friends.
