Mieczyslaw Gigiera, Statement of his treatment in Soviet prison. English translation.
TRANSLATION OF HAND WRITTEN NOTE. In Teheran in August 1942 a Documentation Office was set up to take statements from all those who had been through the Soviet Prisons and Goulag camps. The hand written note appears to be a statement from Mieczyslaw, in his own words (but probably not written by him), that Mieczyslaw gave at the time. See other photo for translation.
Mieczyslaw is on the List of the Repressed.

Mieczyslaw Gigiera in the army, possibly Middle East
My guess is that this is the first picture ever taken of Mieczyslaw Gigiera in 1942. From his attire and the tent, my guess is that this was taken in the Middle East where he was undergoing training in preparation for the war in Italy. He was just 21 years old.
