Tata aresztowany w dniu 21.09.1939 r. zmarł w 1942 r. w więzieniu. Na zesłaniu zmarł dziadek i młodsza siostra, a na koniec, w 1942 r. - mama. Parę miesięcy opiekowała się nim w posiołku znajoma rodziny - Pani Jakowicka. Po "amnestii" udało jej się go umieścić w sierocińcu w Semipałatyńsku.
