Tadeusz died on the train before they got to Moscow, his father Wojciech died after they had passed Moscow, his mother Maria died as the children were getting on the ship that was to take them cross the Caspian Sea to Pahlevi (Persia). Czeslaw disappeared in Teheran - he went into hospital and was never seen him again. Genowefa and Maria were left alone.
