Polish officers and policemen murdered by the NKVD and buried at Katyn, Miednoje and Kharkov as well as oraz Poland’s citizens from the so-called Ukrainian Katyn List.

The Council for the Protection of Memory of Struggle and Martyrdom was the only institution providing information on the list of persons whose names were placed on the so-called “Katyn Lists” and “Ukrainian Katyn List”. Due to the entry into force of the “Act of 29 April 2016 on the Amendment of the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance – the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes Against the Polish Nation and Certain Other Acts”, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (MKiDN) and the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) have taken over the duties of the Council from 1 August 2016.
