Description: He joined the Polish Army in 1919. During the Polish-Soviet War he served in the 83 Rifle Regiment of Poland. After the war he remained in the army and in 1922 he attained the rank of infantry lieutenant with seniority as of June 1, 1919. He served further with the 83rd Polish Rifle Regiment. On May 3, 1926 he was promoted to Captain. November 2, 1928 he was transferred to the Military Academy in Warsaw and after graduating in 1930 he was assigned to the Headquarters 3 Infantry Division in Zamosc for the post of staff officer. In 1933 he was transferred to the Command of the Corps District No. III in Grodno and in 1936 the Command of the Corps District No. V in Krakow. He was arrested by the NKVD and taken deep into the Soviet Union. Stanislaw Zemanek was murdered by the NKVD in Kharkov and buried in a nameless grave in 1940. Today, his remains rest in Piatichatkach at the Cemetery of the Victims of Totalitarianism in Kharkov. October 5, 2007 the Minister of National Defence promoted him posthumously to the rank of lieutenant colonel Promotion was announced November 9, 2007 in Warsaw, during celebrations "Katyn remember - Celebrate memory of Heroes."

He was born on December 19, 1896 in Lwow to Ignacy and Stefania or Stefanja Pilipp (Philipp, Phillipp or Philip). He had a younger brother, Adam Michal, a major in the artillery, who was also murdered in Katyn.......Kharkov.

Before World War 1, he was a member of the „Zarzew” Independence Youth Organization (hotbed). During the war he served in the Eastern Legion, and then in the Siberian Division.

He joined the Polish Army in 1919. During the Polish-Bolshevik War he served in the 83 Rifle Regiment of Polesie (83rd Poleski Rifle Regiment).

After the end of hostilities, he remained in the army and in 1922, he was re-enlisted as an infantry lieutenant with seniority. He continued his career in the 83rd Polish Regimental Regiment and has been verified to the rank of lieutenant of infantry with seniority with effect from June 1, 1919 year. He served further in the 83 Rifle Regiment of Polesie.

May 3, 1926 he was promoted to Captain with seniority as of 1 July 1925 and was ranked 83rd in the Corps of infantry officers.

On November 2, 1928 he was transferred to the Higher Military Academy or Warsaw War College in Warsaw, as a student of the IX Regular Course from 1928 to 1930.

On November 1, 1930, after graduating and getting a diploma as a certified officer, he was assigned to the Headquarters 3rd Infantry Division in Zamosc for the post of staff officer. In 1933 he was transferred to the Command of the Corps District No. III in Grodno and in 1936 the Command of the Corps District No. V in Krakow for the position of chief of staff (head of the department).

During the Polish defensive war he participated in the defense of Lwow. On September 22 after the signing the surrender of the city, he and his other officers officers left Lwow. The Soviets failed to comply with the signed terms of surrender, and most of the officers were arrested by the NKVD and taken deep into the Soviet Union.

In 1940 Stanislaw Zemanek was murdered by the NKVD in Kharkiv (Charkow) and buried in a nameless mass grave.
