Description: The family were living at the military base in Wlodzimierz, and had 3 siblings - Ryszarda, Henryka, Wieslaw. She also had a younger brother who was born in Siberia and died in Uzbekistan when he was 18 months old. Her father (dob 1899) was assigned to the defense of Warsaw and was taken POW by the Germans - but he escaped from there and reached his family in Nov 1939. Her father's youngest brother Ludwik, (dob 1912) age 27 when WWII broke out and he was one of the military guards at the base and took care of the family.Both her parents came from the area of Lublin, so they signed up to go to that area of Poland. Consequently, the Russians now had them on the list. They were deported soon after - in April 1940Wieslaw did not provide the names of his parents, or of his infant brother, when he was interviewed. Other Information: Deported with her parents and siblings, and her paternal uncle Ludwik (son of Jan). Her uncle died there in early 1941, aged 28. When 'amnesty' was declared, some of the men went to Tomsk and signed up for the Polish Army. They came back for their families and set out for the south.A friend, Janek Furman (age 15) died in Uzbekistan in 1942 - he died while Wieslaw was feeding him soup. Wieslaw also mentions standing in line for a vaccine in Kermine, with his friend Edward Mączka, when Edek's father came up to him and hugged him, but he was so emaciated that Edek did not even recognize him!
