Other Information: Julia was deported with her children Wladyslaw and Jadwiga to northern Kazakhstan (nearest city Petropavlovsk). Her eldest son Joseph escaped deportation and remained in Kresy. Hoover Archives in California has record for Jadwiga Pacewicz - at amnesty they were working on the Akmolinsk-Kartaly railway. They travelled South to Bukhara. Jadwiga enlisted in Kermine as a Nurse with the Polish Red Cross 16th February 1942. Wladyslaw enlisted with the 18th infantry infantry regiment, 6th infantry division at Tockoje on the 1st December 1941. Julia Pacewicz was evacuated to Pahlevi, Iran 1942 in the civilian evacuation, thereafter sent to Koja settlement Masindi-Uganda, Africa. Repatriated to UK after War, arriving Southampton 4th May 1948 on the Carnarvon Castle. She lived in Luton for the rest of her life with her daughter Jadwiga and her family.
