Description: * Her mother Klara had served in the Polish Army in WWI, as a nurse, and as a result she was granted land on a Polish settlement in Zytomla after the war. * Her maternal grandfather had served in the Napoleonic Army and had met his Spanish wife while in service. They had 13 children - Klara was the 13th child (born in Madrid when her mother was visiting her parents there). The first 12 children were all boys, and Klara was the only girl. Before WWII, her maternal grandfather had been sent to Siberia, and his wife and children were exiled to a different place. * In 1940, they were all deported along (paternal grandparents, parents, she and her sister, her bpaternal uncle with his wife and son Tadek). Grandfather died in Kazakhstan, and grandmother died in Uzbekistan. * The family then ended up in Persia (Iran), where her father joined the Polish Army and was sent to Egypt, while her mother, sister, and their cousin Tadek were all sent to Africa - to the Lusaka settlement. * Once reunited in the UK, the family lived in several PRC camps. Teresa attended high school in Diddington to age 16. Kazia married while they were still all living in the Hoddington PRC camp - she later had a daughter that she named Klara. * The family remained in the UK, but Teresa and her husband moved to Collingwood, Ontario in Canada - their sons both graduated as Engineers from Military College and made a career in the Armed Forces. Her parents, as well as Kazia and her family, remained in the UK. * Information obtained in an interview recorded with Teresa, also Kazimiera's account in the book "Stalin's Ethnic Cleansing".
